Graphic Design Internship

SKILLS:
• Proficiency in In Design, Photoshop, and other Adobe CS3 programs. (Please submit a portfolio that represents your body of work. Samples with a marketing emphasis are preferred.)
• The ability to be consistently creative.
• The ability to design pieces that connect with particular audiences.

ATTITUDE:
• A willingness to adopt DFN’s branding guidelines and to learn to design within given parameters.
• A willingness to revise your initial ideas and design as many times as possible to create a piece that is professional, compelling, and effective.
• An understanding that DFN needs to operate like a business with specific marketing goals that you will play an important role in helping to achieve.

DUTIES:
• Create posters / fliers for general advocacy and specific events
• Design marketing materials for the development team
• Design and create event materials such as invitations, programs, response cards, etc.
• Assist with revisions of current marketing tools
• Update the website with new visuals (banners, photos, video, etc).
• Create new letter headers
• Design new office letterhead and business cards
• Update custom correspondence cards

Social Networking Internship













SKILLS:
• Proficient communicator on Facebook and Twitter and other sites.
• Basic HTML editing skills.
• Intuition about web-based tools.
• Experience writing for the web.

ATTITUDE:
• A willingness to adopt DFN’s approach to social networking.
• A willingness to develop a keen awareness of the DFN brand and to further that brand through non-DFN media in a professional and approachable way.
• A willingness to learn: representing an NGO and a cause online is very different than managing a personal profile or site.
• You must be willing to learn to use DFN’s language and style when communicating online.

DUTIES:
• Update sites daily with articles and video links related to the Dalit movement
• Update photos
• Help create and implement a strategic Facebook campaign to raise a target amount of money for the Dalit movement in India
• Strategically mobilize regional student advocates through Facebook
• Update DFN Twitter account, increase the number of followers, build a strategic brand identity
• Simplify Dalit-related research and news (such as the 2009 Trafficking in Persons (TIP) Report) so it’s more accessible to those we communicate with online
