Hellow…..
“Why does the global Human Rights organizations including al most all Indian organizations keep silence on freedom of religion about 150 million of untouchables called Scheduled castes who are unable to enjoy their rights provided by the government of India”.
“An official statistics says that the Christian population is 0nly 3%…It is true that more than 15%of the population accepted Christianity…and living as hidden Christians due to the discrimination shown by the government on the grounds of caste which is absolutely contrary to the Indian constitution”
The religious persecutions can be stopped and are very few in number…but…the discrimination against religion based on caste is silent, big and critical in nature and against the article 18 of the Universal declaration of the Human rights”
“The discrimination on the grounds of caste is inhuman and need to be changed “
Yes…it is a plight of 150 millions of untouchables…who are deprived of freedom of religion… let them worship their God”
[color=red]The Indian Population is nearly I Billion of which the Scheduled Castes and Tribes are more than 25% of the population.. Before the Independence they were not allowed to enter Hindu Temples and they are treated as Untouchables. During the British Period these people were attracted to Christianity, which treated all equally. They are converted and accepted Lord Jesus as their God.
After Independence the Indian Government had appointed a constitutional body lead by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar him self a dalith. Any act against the Fundamental Rights is considered to be against the Article 13 of our constitution. The Article 25(1) of Indian Constitution provides freedom of Religion and says that any citizens can follow their own Religion. As per the Article 23 (2) of the Constitution, the government should not discriminate the citizens on the grounds of Religion, caste, creed and group. The third Para of the article 341of the Indian constitution clearly demonstrates that the Daliths (untouchables) who follow Hindu Religion are classified as Scheduled Castes and are entitled to avail the benefits of the reservations, but the Daliths (untouchables) who follow other religions like Islam, Christianity Buddhist and Sikh were not allowed to avail the reservation benefits. Again the third Para of the said article 341 was amended in 1956 and 1990 and accordingly both Sikh and the Buddhist Daliths were also treated as Schedule castes. The constitution provides the freedom of Religion on one side and on the other side it is discriminating the Daliths on the basis of religion, which is against to the secular doctrine of the constitution. With this discrimination, those daliths who follow Christian and Islam religions are losing their constitutional rights.
Further the Government of India stated that the Scheduled Castes have right to enjoy reservations except those SCs those who are converted from Hindu, Buddha, and Sikh religions to Christianity they are not eligible to enjoy reservations provided and they are not be treated as SCs. As far as caste is concerned the daliths belong to all religions are same,
If they accept Christianity they will not be treated as SCs and bound to lose all benefits of reservations in the field of education and employment.
It is very interesting to know that an informal survey reveals that in India more than 100 million of people who belong to SC are worshiping Lord Jesus. But the official statistics says that only 30 Million people are Christians. As a matter of fact the majority section of people that attend the church are SCs.Take for an example Mr.”X” and Mr.”Y” are by caste they are scheduled castes or daliths and both Mr.”X” and Mr”Y” are teammates in church choir. To enjoy reservations in Education and Employment Mr.”X” family is unwillingly, forced to write their religion as Hindu behind their caste. So, they are eligible to enjoy the reservations if they put their religion as Hindu or Sikh or Buddhist. As far as caste concerned both Mr.”X and Mr.”Y” is the same, but according to the religion both are different (As per the records). Mr.”Y”can keep Bible in his home, he can attend Church openly, but Mr.”X” cannot able to do so. Most of the Scheduled castes are facing this problem. To avail the benefits of the reservations, they attend churches secretly, they worship god with all their heart and soul, they are accepting Lord Jesus as their savior but they are living as hidden Christians. More than 75% of SCs are facing this problem. In this connection we want to make a request to the people and the national leaders to abide by the article 25 (1) of Indian constitution that provides freedom of religion and Article 23 (2) of the constitution that says that the Government should not discriminate the citizens on the grounds of religion, caste creed, and group.
The above situation has been prevailing in the Indian Society due to the above said reasons.
The Center for Christian Rights and social responsibility is the first and only one organization working for the attainment of freedom of religion to the scheduled castes in a peaceful manner, and aimed to make awareness among the Indian people as well as the rulers on the discrimination against religion being shown by the government towards Scheduled Caste or Dalith People who deprived of liberty of religion.
Since this issue belongs to a social inequality and religious disparity we request to recognize this issue as a violation of human rights.
